KSS Incidents 31 December 2024 – 22 January 2025
31 December 2024 19:11 Miller Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client reporting a positive break-in. A speaker was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
1 January 2025 00:30 Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by a patrolling KSS Response Officer that he had noticed open windows in one of the shops. KSS tried to contact the shop owner but to no avail. The centre supervisor was advised. Nothing was stolen. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
1 January 2025 05:13 Old Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that two suspects had been apprehended for tampering with the copper pipes. KSS handed the matter over to the client.
2 January 2025 14: 50 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by a KSS on-site Security Guard that a suspect had been apprehended for shoplifting. A KSS Response Team was dispatched to assist. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
3 January 2025 22:14 Birnamwood Road (Merrivale Heights) The KSS Control Room was advised about suspects on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect fled. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
3 January 2025 23:17 Tulip Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a CCTV camera and alarm activations. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the suspect fled. Nothing was stolen. The client was advised.
3 January 2025 14:46 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised by a KSS Response Team that a shoplifter had been apprehended by an on-site KSS Security Guard. Another KSS Response Team and SAPS were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that the stolen clothing items were recovered. KSS handed the incident over to SAPS. A case was opened.
5 January 2025 15:42 Market Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a gas cylinder had been stolen. Access was gained by jumping over the fence. As per the client no need for SAPS.
6 January 2025 08:07 Dargle D4 (Lions River) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client advising them about an armed robbery during the course of the night. A staff member had been held up at gun point and robbed of his money and cell phone. The staff member was tied up but managed to get free and ran to the client’s house to advise him. SAPS and Ballid were dispatched. SAPS took over the incident. A case was opened.
7 January 2025 06:50 Oleander Road (Merrivale) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that cables had been stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS.
8 January 2025 11:56 Somme Street and Bell Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that copper pipes had been stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
9 January 2025 09:04 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a break-in. Speakers were stolen. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
9 January 2025 13:21 Main Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect was seen shoplifting. The suspect fled. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
10 January 2025 02:56 Midmar Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been suspects on site. The suspects fled. The stolen items were recovered. As per the client no needs for SAPS.
10 January 2025 12:41 Rosebank Road (Howick) The KSS Control Room received an alarm activation. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that a suspect was seen fleeing a property. Stolen items were dropped and KSS Officers recovered them. Access was gained by jumping over the palisade fence and then using a plank to break the burglar gate and back door. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
12 January 2025 17:23 Midmar Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that there had been a break-in. Access was gained by breaking a window and then a door. SAPS were formally advised. A case was opened.
15 January 2025 10:11 Harvard Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers reported that there had been an attempted shoplifting incident. The suspect realised he had been seen and dropped the items and fled. Nothing was stolen. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
15 January 2025 15:43 Cedara Road (Hilton) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance as there had been a minor MVA on site. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that one of the drivers was intoxicated. SAPS were formally advised. KSS handed the driver and vehicle over to SAPS. There were no injuries.
17 January 2025 12:00 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a UCSI SNIPR activation for a stolen vehicle. KSS response Teams were advised and located the vehicle in the Howick CBD. SAPS and the uMngeni Traffic Department were advised. The vehicle was checked and found to be legitimate. The vehicle was removed from SNIPR data base and SAPS records were updated.
17 January 2025 15:25 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room received a call from an on-site KSS Security Guard. KSS Response Teams were dispatched. KSS Officers apprehended one suspect involved with shoplifting. Another suspect fled the scene with stolen items. KSS handed the suspect over to SAPS. A case was opened.
22 January 2025 08:53 Main Street (Howick) The KSS Control Room was advised about cable theft. As per the client no need for SAPS. KSS conducted additional patrols in the area.
22 January 2025 10:10 Acacia Road (Howick West) The KSS Control Room received a call from a client requesting assistance. A KSS Response Team was dispatched. The KSS Officers reported that man has been mugged in the area and had jumped into the property to escape from the suspect. A wallet and cell phone were stolen, and the victim had been injured on the arm. The suspect was armed with a knife and fled. KSS conducted patrols in the area. The victim reported the mugging to SAPS. A case was opened.
